Problem and Description:

The Department of Riad is situated in the south of the capital (Nouakchott). This community rests 4 km from the road to the city Rosso. Its population is estimated to be around 50,000 residents. The women of this region have organized 4 cooperatives with the intentions of developing income-generating activities. This framework creates a good strategy for building actions of community development.

It's for these reasons that ECO-Development has decided to carry out an initial phase of a pilot project for community development.

Objectives:

Improve access to potable water
Improve hygiene conditions in the area
Create jobs and income generation
Research the environment and propose further ideas for aid

Planned Activities:

Construction of a public drinking fountain
Construction of a community center
Collect household wastes
Economic activities

Expected Results:

The organization of women exercising economic activities
Improved health conditions for women and children in the area
Availability of potable water in the area
Creation of a mutual credit savings at the local level
Good management of the area
